 Curriculum

Sunland allows for the use of various curriculum from a wide range of publishers, and will provide curriculum counsel to enrolling families. We have provided a limited list of Los Angeles area curriculum retail stores and national major publishers. If you know a curriculum retail store in southern California, please contact us with the information to add to the list. We are beginning a list of used curriculum for sale. If you desire to list your used curriculum, contact us with your name, list of what you are selling, prices and a means to contact you. We will list your information on our page and ask that you contact us when it sells.

Part of the home schooling process involves determining which courses a student should take each year and how they will accomplish them (study at home, college course, online course, home school group class, tutor, etc.). Understanding each student's learning style may also impact what curriculum is used. For example, a kinesthetic learner needs a hands-on curriculum.

From there, curriculum choices can be made. Sunland discusses with each family the curriculum appropriate for their student.

Textbooks - from major publishers, such as Abeka and Bob Jones.

Workbooks - workbooks designed to cover the course content.

Online Courses - through various providers. Sunland offers the full range of courses.

College Courses - high school students can concurrently take courses at most local colleges.

Group Classes - topics taught in a group setting of a home, church, etc.

Informal Classes - classes taught without formal curriculum, such as PE, woodworking, etc.

While Sunland will provide the necessary level of counsel needed by each family in deciding curriculum, it has its recommendations. Ultimately, each family choices and purchases their student's curriculum. Sunland will assist and in some cases purchase the curriculum for the family. Sunland families then notify the school, through the record keeping process, as to what curriculum or method of instruction will be used for their student.

If you have curriculum questions, you may contact us. For enrolling families, curriculum discussion is a part of their enrollmen process.
